Student Employment
Requirements:
All students – Must be currently enrolled in at least 6 units for the semester or pre enrolled in the upcoming semester.
International students – Must be currently enrolled in as least 12 units and must be in good standing (2.0 GPA) with the ISSP office. International students are not eligible for Federal Work Study jobs.
For Federal Work Study jobs – Must have completed the Federal Student Aid Application (FAFSA) and received notification of award. If uncertain about qualifying, visit the Financial Aid website.
Hourly Employees - Job assignment for non-permanent (at-will) hourly employees or students enrolled in less than six units who work as an hourly employee. Please refer to link for more information regarding this classification.
Finding a Job:
Each department conducts their own interviews and makes their own selection decisions. Approach each department and ask if they are seeking student workers.
Additionally, Santa Barbara City College's Job Connection Schall Career Center has information about student jobs on campus, internships, as well as jobs and volunteer opportunities in the community.
New Hire - Student Employee:
Supervisors - Once a student has been offered a position by a department, please complete the following Google Form - New Hire Packet Request - Student and Hourly Employment.
Information regarding TB clearance will then be sent to the student employee via email directly from HR.
Departments can simultaneously create an EPAF for their prospective employee. The employee and supervisor will receive an auto-generated email once approved by Human Resources.
In addition, for your international student workers, please complete the following Social Security card application and return to Gordon Miguel(gamiguel@pipeline.sbcc.edu).
Prospective Student Employees -A New Hire Packet will be provided to you via NEOED. All necessary forms are form-fillable and can be signed with an electronic signature. Information regarding the necessary steps for TB and Live Scan clearance will be provided to you once you supervisor completes a request form.
The employee and supervisor will receive an auto-generated email once the EPAF is approved by Human Resources.
This office is open Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am -4:00 pm and Friday, 8:30 am -12:00 pm.
*Student employees employed with Orfalea, A-ok, and Security will receive a Live Scan form as well. In most cases, Live Scan results are submitted to HR within 3-5 business days; however, due to various reasons, results can be delayed. All Live Scan and TB Exam fees from designated locations will be charged to the District.

Rehire – Student Employee
Supervisors - EPAFs for rehires can be created at any time because the applicant has an existing K#.
- EPAFs will be approved once HR verifies hire paperwork is up-to date.
- Employee and supervisor will be notified if applicant needs to complete any forms.
- Employee and supervisor will receive an auto-generated email once the EPAF is complete.
*Additional TB results are not necessary for rehires. Live Scan results may be necessary if the student employee transfers to Orfalea, A-ok, or Security from another department. All Live Scan and TB Exam fees from designated locations will be charged to the District.
