How to Join Raíces / ¡Cómo Unirse a Raíces!

Welcome to our “How To Join” page for the ¡Raíces: First Year and Beyond! student program at Santa Barbara City College. We are thrilled that you are interested in becoming part of our academic community and familia! Joining is easy, and this webpage is here to guide you through the process. Eligibility Statement

EVERYONE is welcome to join ¡Raíces: First Year and Beyond! There are no requirements based on background, such as age, ethnicity, language ability, financial or legal status, or GPA, to become of member of our academic community and familia.

Raíces Program Commitments

When you join Raíces, you join our familia of academic counselors, advisors, faculty, and fellow Raíces scholars who will support you in the creation of your own unique educational journey.  As an active member and to enrich your experience with Raíces, we ask you participate in the following three committments when possible:
  • Enroll in Raíces course(s) every semester if they follow your education plan.
  • Attend Raíces events every semester.
  • Meet with a Raíces Academic Counselor or our Raíces Program Advisor every semester.
